- 'Normal' Skin: 'Normal' is a term widely used to refer to a well-balanced skin which is neither too oily nor too dry. It has small pores, a smooth and supple surface and a high degree of hydration. It is also characterised by a soft appearance, an even tone, and marked by few or no blemishes. It has a healthy glow and colour. This does not imply that other skin types are 'abnormal'. 'Normal' Skin is the rarest of all, and the few with this skin type need regular maintenance like everyone else.
- Dry Skin: Dry skin looks very fine, delicate and pale in colour. It feels tight after washing and may look flaky with a dull appearance. People with dry skin often find fine lines appear prematurely around the eyes, mouth and forehead.
- Oily Skin: Oily skin is often shiny, thick and sallow in complexion. It has over-active sebaceous glands and large open pores, especially on the T-Zone. The skin may noticeable feel oily on the chin and forehead areas, and quite often has blackheads.
- Combination Skin: Combination skin is when individuals have characteristics from more than one of the four skin types. For example, an oily T-Zone (central panel) with dryness elsewhere.
