Skin Concerns
Sensitive: Sensitive skin is easily irritated. The skin is prone to redness and may cause a burning feeling. It can feel itchy, tight after washing, blotchy, thin in appearance with dry flaky patches and very delicate. Sensitive skin also wrinkles at an earlier stage in life.
Dehydrated: Dehydrated skin is caused by a lack of sufficient water rather than a lack of natural oil. It can appear flat and dull, and the skin may feel tight and have horizontal lines on closer look. It is often mistaken for dry skin because many of the characteristics are the same.
Premature ageing: The skin has poor elasticity, and no firmness. Fine lines around the eyes and lips are usually obvious when the skin is dry. Furthermore, as muscles become slack sagging can occur.
Pigmentation: Pigmentation may occur for a number of reasons. It could be age spots, which occur when there is uneven accumulation of melanin deposits in the surface layers of the skin. Or it could be a case of hyperpigmentation/dark spots - where a greater amount of melanin is produced in a given area of the skin and absorption is poor. Hyperpigmentation may be a result of hormonal imbalances caused by pregnancy, the use of birth control pills, menopause or nervous disorders. Dark spots, on the other hand, can occur when there is surface irritation to the skin. For example, acne conditions.
Acne: Skin with acne can look oily/greasy, is prone to enlarged and clogged pores, black heads, white heads and inflammation.
